Varsity Head Coach - Calvin Burkhart
Varsity Head Coach “Cal” is excited to return to the Eagles where he began his coaching career in 2019 as the club’s goalie coach. He has since served as the head coach for the Fenwick JV team, leading them in his inaugural year to their first championship in over a decade. He was also the head coach of the ACHA D2 team at Purdue University Northwest last season improving their success from the D2 level after moving from the D3 level. Learning to play hockey on a pond in Montana, Coach Cal eventually played AAA in Cranbrook, BC, the Chicago Chill, Sabres CSDHL and Madison Capitols before playing his senior year with Benet Academy’s Varsity team. He then went on to play three years of Junior A and NCAA D3 prior to transferring and graduating from New York University where he won the 2017 ACHA D2 National Championship and was promoted to ACHA D1 his senior year. Coach Cal was profoundly influenced by his work with NY Islanders Director of Goaltending, Mitch Korn, bringing a detail-oriented approach to his head coaching practice. He brings a philosophy that a championship process creates championships and that winning is a product of development. Coach Cal looks forward to bringing a renewed culture of elected development, unforgettable player experiences and relentless competitiveness to the Eagles!
